Security Consultant
Rate: 650 per day (Inside IR35)
Location: London, Remote
Contract Type: 3 months (likely to extend)
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Consultant to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in cybersecurity, responsible for assessing security measures, identifying risks, and providing strategic advice to protect our organisation's assets. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our security posture through robust vulnerability management, compliance with industry standards like PCI DSS, and effective people management.
Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive security assessments and risk analysis to identify vulnerabilities and threats to our systems and data.
  • Develop and implement security strategies, policies, and procedures in line with industry best practices and standards such as Cyber Essentials.
  • Lead and manage PCI DSS compliance projects, ensuring all controls are effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Oversee the vulnerability management lifecycle, from detection and assessment to remediation and reporting.
  • Provide expert technical guidance on security architecture, tools, and technologies to mitigate risks.
  • Manage and mentor junior security team members, fostering a culture of security awareness and continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with stakeholders across the business to communicate security risks and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Respond to and manage security incidents, conducting post-incident analysis to prevent future occurrences.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • CISSP Certification: Must hold a valid Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
  • PCI DSS Experience: Demonstrable experience in implementing and managing Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance programmes.
  • Cyber Essentials: Proven knowledge and experience with the Cyber Essentials scheme.
  • Vulnerability Management: Strong background in vulnerability scanning, risk assessment, and remediation management.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth technical knowledge of network security, operating systems, cloud security, and modern security technologies.
  • People Management Experience: Previous experience in a role with people management or team leadership responsibilities.
