The Senior Infra Engineer will hold accountability for design, implementation, security, maintenance and support of software-defined infrastructure resources. They will work without the need for supervision and own and direct the tasks of more junior infra engineers. They will focus on Platform or Lab level objectives and may manage a sub-set of their team's technical products


We're looking for a driven Infrastructure Database Engineer who can help us deliver exciting customer driven solutions. In our Infrastructure team, we lead the way in defining the best of new technology offerings, working closely with our Engineering Leads to collectively drive the engineering agenda whilst balancing the requirements of the UKs leading retail bank. The ultimate measure of success for us is leveraging these best of breed software and platform solutions so that we can continuously improve how we deliver market leading applications for our customers.


What you'll do





Spread your time among short term support-related tasks, longer-term initiatives, problem-solving, optimising, forecasting, planning and personal development. Be part of the leadership team for the Infrastructure team and take ownership of team tasks. Collaborate with Engineering teams across the Transport Platform, and the wider LBG, to develop effective solutions. Take ownership of specific problems to deliver customer focused outcomes. Contribute to Infrastructure strategy both within the Corporate Lab and Transport Platform. Assist Senior Infrastructure Engineers to advance the capabilities across the Transport Platform.

What you'll need:





Ability to analyse, review and validate SQL queries or procedures and offer recommendations to optimise code An in-depth understanding of SQL Server, Windows server architecture, VMWare and storage related technologies Good understanding of SQL Availability groups and their functions Ability to write SQL queries/procedures for automation purposes Knowledge and experience of working with SQL Server SSIS packages and SSRS reports Awareness of best practices for SQL coding and ability to recommend compliant solutions for unsuitable code An understanding of infrastructure as code practises, as well as secure by design principles. Be able to communicate effectively and work together, building relationship with others across a variety of domains, fields and locations, but also be able to work autonomously and proactively. A service-first attitude supplementing pro-active infrastructure monitoring

And any experience of these would be really useful:





Experience of working with ServiceNow, JIRA and Kanban boards Working experience of any prominent cloud service e.g. GCP, Azure etc Ability to troubleshoot performance related database issues and offer appropriate solutions
