Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in a fast-paced legal team, providing hands-on support across everything from contract drafting and dispute resolution to project delivery and legal operations. 1. Legal Advice & Support

  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice and support to the Head of Legal and as appropriate to business units covering a range of issues;
  • Drafting and reviewing construction contracts, NDAs, collateral warranties and other documents;
  • Supporting dispute resolution processes, including preparing evidence bundles, research memos and assisting with the engagement of external resources;
  • Undertake research on legal issues and prepare advice memos.
2. Project Delivery
  • Assisting with ongoing legal advice to commercial and operational teams;
  • Responding to queries regarding contractual or legal issues;
  • Ensuring insurance certificates and policies are up to date;
  • Assisting to maintain a suite of precedents.
3. Administration
  • Administrative support including but not limited to (1) completion of corporate reports and forms; (2) maintaining accurate and up to date record of all contracts, warranties, guarantees and other similar agreements; and (3) arranging for the notarization of documents;
  • Liaise with other parts of the business in relation to document management and document retention;
  • Maintain precedent documents and provide advice to the business on implementation.
  • 4. Training & Development
  • Maintain current knowledge on legal developments, including preparing business updates;
  • Organise and where appropriate deliver training sessions within the business.
4. Under the supervision of the Head of Legal:
  • Draft, amend and recommend for approval standard precedents, NDAs, supplier contracts and similar documents;
  • Prepare and finalise internal reports and forms for submission;
  • Engaging Notary (provided that documents to be notarised are approved by Head of Legal);
  • Communicate with external counsel for routine requests;
  • Provide preliminary legal opinions on low-risk matters, subject to confirming advice with Head of Legal.
  • Note that all external communications with clients or third parties must be with the consent of the Head of Legal.

  • Proven experience in a legal role is essential, ideally gained within Construction;
  • A strong academic background with a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent in Law (or appropriate conversion).
