WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?As our In-house Legal Counsel, you will work closely with the Directors and Senior Management team to provide legal services and advice to support our business growth. You will be responsible for developing and delivering the legal plan - ensuring that cost-effective legal capability is delivered on new developments and existing projects at all stages.We're a very fast-growing and fast-iterating business, so legal risk and governance support is crucial when working with new and existing prestigious clients. Contracts and negotiations can often be challenging, and that's where your experience and expertise will play a significant role, ensuring seamless agreements to form new partnerships.You will be skilled in reviewing, writing and producing a wide variety of legal documents and contractual agreements to assist and support various business activities.The ideal candidate will be passionate about the tech industry and ideally have proven experience in supporting technology or digital services, to be able to hit the ground running, helping protect both intellectual and capital property,In summary you will:

  • Provide counsel, advice, and solutions on existing and proposed business and commercial issues and matters affecting the business
  • Define, develop and implement our legal strategy
  • Challenge, lead and influence at a senior level
  • Build relationships with customers, partners and key influencers to aid smooth negotiations
  • Work alongside our directors and business analysts to ensure that appropriate corporate governance, policies, procedures, risk management and training are in place
  • Responsible for drafting negotiating UK contracts including SaaS Agreements, Software Licensing Agreements, IP Agreements, Data Protection, General T&C's, Property Leases Customer Agreements, Shareholder/Investor processes and General Policies and Procedures
  • Responsible for regulatory issues including Data Protection and updating the business on any compliance changes
  • Negotiate and manage relationships both internally and externally
  • Manage litigation and litigation risk where applicable
  • Keep up to date with legal developments which may impact the business
  • Handle international growth / expansion plans from a legal perspective
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • You should be a qualified lawyer with 3-5 years post qualification experience
  • Strong, demonstrable experience in a legal counsel role, ideally for 3 years or more - we will expect to hear about your past achievements and the impact you've made
  • Excellent attention to detail and highly critical - in particular for negotiating contracts and drafting legal documentation
  • Proactive and a highly motivated self-starter - using initiative to manage contractual agreements, maintain compliance and protect the business
  • Adaptable in nature to address questions of legal, regulatory and general commercial matters
  • Strong communication skills - managing both internal and external stakeholder relationships across different locations and sectors, often challenging the norm and contributing to business plans
  • Great with people - close working relationships between colleagues and clients is part of our culture
  • Experience working in a legal capacity within the tech industry is a plus, as is international experience
