THE ROLE
As part of the Innovation team your primary role will be to perform the laboratory work required for the progression of various Innovation programmes and to evaluate and develop new technologies and services. You should be able to demonstrate competency in at least two relevant laboratory techniques, examples of which include flow cytometry, genetic manipulation of mammalian cells, cell culture of immune cells or SPR. You will have experience in analysing scientific data relating to your competence and a level of competency in summarising scientific outputs in reports and presentations. You will have a can-do attitude, willingness, and ability to learn new concepts and techniques. You will participate in the organisation of Innovation activities, including the generation of appropriate documentation (project plans, lab documents, protocols, reports) and housekeeping activities (e.g., inventory management of Innovation materials). You will participate in activities to operationalise and commercialise Innovation outputs, including the generation of appropriate assay/product/service documentation (e.g., SOPs), training, and marketing material.
WHAT WE EXPECT YOU TO DO
Key responsibilities:
Innovation
You will be responsible for performing high standard laboratory work necessary to evaluate new technologies and develop new techniques which may include, but is not limited to the following:
Generation of new stable cell lines via transduction with lentivirus and/or transfection via lipid-based methods or electroporation (Nucleofection).
Modification of primary cells (e.g., T cells) via lentiviral transduction or electroporation.
Culture cell lines and of patient derived cells
Development of new assays in multiple disciplines including (but not limited to) immunology, pharmacology and translational biology.
Assessment of new instruments and techniques or methodologies using existing instrumentation.
Data interpretation, presentation, and communication
Perform data analysis in areas of competency and demonstrate ability to learn new data analysis where required.
Support the interpretation of scientific data
Use scientific literature to troubleshoot, interpret and progress projects.
Where appropriate perform data integrity checks.
Support the generation of appropriate reports or presentations and communicate progress with other members of the Innovation team and wider company.
Support the generation of manuscripts for scientific publications.
Project Organisation/Documentation
Participate in or lead the housekeeping activities of the Innovation department, such as inventory management, reagent prep and aliquoting, ordering materials and reagents as required.
Participate in organising Innovation activities, including booking appropriate equipment, scheduling experimental activities and data analysis.
Participate in the generation or independently prepare appropriate Innovation documentation, including custom laboratory documentation, project plans and protocols.
Support the generation of documentation for operationalisation of Innovation outputs (e.g., SOPs, CoA etc)
Support the logistics of procuring scientific instruments (e.g. URS generation etc).
Compliance
Adhere to the standard practices as set out by the Company's Quality team.
Raise deviations and prepare risk assessments when required.
Actively contribute to resolving and mitigating identified issues/errors in deviations.
Training and Development
Where appropriate support practical training.
Where appropriate, support training for use of laboratory equipment as guided by SOPs.
Attend training sessions as suggested by the senior Innovation team to support personal development objectives.
Marketing/Product Management
Support activities for commercialisation of new products and services and improvements of current services.
Support the production of marketing materials e.g., website content, blogs, whitepapers, technical notes etc., as appropriate, to support marketing campaigns.
Support the generation of data, presentations, and scientific materials for conferences/publications.
Health and Safety
Ensure the company is following health and safety regulation and policies to minimise risk in the workplace, through an active team focus on Health and Safety topics.
