The Inpatient Matron is responsible for the operational management of the inpatient areas within maternity.
This post includes management of the ward areas, the blossom suite and the midwifery birthing centre. The Matron will be responsible for the overall management of the patient flow within these areas, liaising closely with other Matrons and the wider leadership team.
Please note, the applicants need to have recent experience of working in the NHS at a band 7 level.
They will provide senior leadership to the midwifery and nursing workforce within the care group, assisting in the delivery of professional and operational priorities and manage the team and departmental midwifery managers and specialist Midwives.
They will facilitate staff and team development and be central to the implementation and monitoring of quality and business plans.
The post will include on call working.

The post-holder will also promote professionalism amongst midwives and nurses and will undertake clinical work to maintain their professional competence, authority and credibility.
The Maternity Matron will ensure that effective and robust communication systems are in place for patients, visitors and staff, and will actively promote a culture of health education and ill-health prevention.
