Job Overview

The Access Control Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of facilities through the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of access control systems. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and practical skills to effectively manage various security technologies, including CCTV and intrusion detection systems (IDS). The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of computer networking, mechanical knowledge, and electrical experience to support the design and implementation of robust security solutions.

Duties

Install, configure, and maintain access control systems, including electronic locks and card readers. Conduct regular inspections and troubleshooting of security systems to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with project teams to design system layouts and schematics for new installations. Utilise hand tools and power tools for system installation and maintenance tasks. Integrate CCTV systems with access control solutions to enhance overall security measures. Provide technical support for users, addressing any issues related to access control equipment or software. Maintain accurate documentation of system designs, configurations, and service records. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in access control technology.

Skills

Proficient in computer networking principles and practices. Strong mechanical knowledge applicable to security systems installation. Familiarity with computer hardware components related to access control systems. Experience in electrical work relevant to system installations. Knowledge of CCTV technology and its integration with access control systems. Competence in reading schematics for effective system design and troubleshooting. Ability to work with hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently. Understanding of intrusion detection systems (IDS) and their functionalities. Experience in construction environments is advantageous. Familiarity with telecommunication systems as they relate to security solutions.
