The role
Doncaster School for the Deaf are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and inspirational individual who will be responsible for managing a classroom in the absence of a teacher, ensuring that pupils complete pre-prepared work while maintaining a positive learning environment.
Responsibilities will include
Cover:
Organise daily cover for staff absence. Organise timetabling changes and inform staff of changes on a daily basis.
Planning:
Plan and deliver non-core subjects, eg, ASDAN.
Supervise Pupils
: Work with pupils from EYFS to KS4. Oversee pupils during lessons, ensuring they remain on task with the work set by the absent teacher. Provide break and lunchtime cover and enrichment, as required.
Maintain Classroom Order
: Create a structured and orderly environment conducive to learning, managing behaviour according to the school's policies.
Support Learning
: Assist pupils in understanding the tasks and provide guidance as needed, promoting engagement and participation in classroom activities.
Communicate Effectively
: Act as a point of contact for pupils regarding the set work and school procedures, fostering a supportive atmosphere. High level signing skills will be required.
Promote Inclusion
: Encourage acceptance of diversity and support all pupils, adapting to their individual needs and learning styles.
Candidates should be able to show;
Level 2 Maths and English
Learning Support Qualification
BSL Level 3 or equivalent signing skills willingness to work towards achieving a BSL Level 3 qualification
Experience of working with children and young people who are deaf
Experience of working with children and young people with SEND
Able to work as part of a team and communicate clearly, with excellent organisational skills
Experience of working within an education environment
IT literate with a working knowledge of MS office, in particular: Word, Excel and Outlook
