We currently have the following opportunity:



Instrumental Music Instructor, Percussion 0.4FTE (Fixed Term until 16 August 2026) - PKC12802

35,190 - 46,773 (pro-rata)

Based at Perth High School



The successful candidate(s) will teach from beginner to advanced level. (Normally S1 - S6).



The successful candidate will be a part of a team of 32 instructors employed by Perth & Kinross Council.



Instruction is delivered in both primary & secondary schools and is linked to musical activities which take part in Perth & Kinross schools and regional bands.

Responsibilities

Prepare existing pupils as required for all S.Q.A. examinations. Where appropriate, prepare and enter pupils for external examinations. Teach all disciplines of Percussion (Drum kit and Tuned Percussion) Play a part in school based initiatives. Assist with school concerts, exams and other projects. Attend residential courses at authority level to coach/conduct ensembles and/or to undertake duties relevant to the residential situation. Undertake other related duties as required by the Instrumental Music Co-ordinator.

Perth & Kinross employs staff who are expert in all disciplines. The Team approach ensures that expert assistance is always available to help non-specialists. In-service training is also carried out and the use of modern teaching methods is actively encouraged.



Activities may involve evening and weekend work for which additional payments are made.



If successful for interview you will be required to play 2 pieces of music. 1 on a drum kit and 1 on tuned percussion.

Skills & Experience Required

A degree in Music is essential. Other relevant music qualifications will also be considered at the time of application.



You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
