The role



A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Intake Technician to work in our facility in Severn Beach. The main purpose of this role is to assist in the smooth and efficient running of company operations by supporting the programme of raw material, packaging and label positive release.

The main responsibilities of this role are:



Inspection of deliveries: checking the status of materials (ingredients, packaging and labels) delivered to site, or to external storage locations, for integrity, infestation and bulk label accuracy. Recording status of deliveries according to approval or rejection protocols. Sample taking: sampling of raw material deliveries to company procedures and resealing and labelling sampled units. Sample assessment: checking the status of sampled material against specification and/or retained sample comparing relevant criteria to determine acceptability. Conducting organoleptic tests, functionality tests, basic in-house analytical tests. Sample preparation: preparing samples for external analysis at laboratories, customer offices, etc. Storing retained samples for future use/reference. Supporting Intake Team function: preparing documentation and reports to demonstrate the operation of the Intake function. Working with the Intake Manager to deliver the required support to internal company customers and to external customers, including 3rd party auditors of Bart Ingredients. Intake office maintenance: keeping the Intake office tidy and functional. Arranging calibrations and repairs of key equipment as necessary. Managing sample storage conditions and status, including correct disposal of materials when required. Supporting company Food Defence and Technical function: as required to support the needs of the business. Examples include: internal auditing, factory checks, allergen controls, documentation reviews, staff training and external audits. Undertake and support Investigations and Root Cause Analysis as and when directed.

Person specification/Qualifications/Capabilities:



Experience & Education:

A background and/or qualification in food science, food technology, food hygiene, or a related field is preferred.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Laboratory procedures and equipment maintenance would be an advantage.

Attention to Detail:

A meticulous and hands-on approach to tasks and documentation.

Communication:

Good written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.

Teamwork:

The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

The hours for this role are 40 hours per week Monday - Friday.
