Integration Engineer Uav Electronic And Electrical Systems

Chichester, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Not every engineering job lets you take complete ownership of UAV systems from concept to flying missions. This one does.

Join a Boeing-backed team building autonomous drones that are already inspecting critical infrastructure for National Grid and other major operators.

These aren't prototypes gathering dust -- they're aircraft conducting real Beyond Visual Line of Sight missions across the UK today, and we need someone who can own the entire integration process.

Why Join?

Complete system ownership:

Take responsibility for UAV electrical and electronic systems from initial design through integration, production, and flight validation -- you'll own the entire process.

Real hands-on engineering:

System design, PCB layout, integration, testing, production management -- all part of the job. This isn't just design work.

Cutting-edge UAV technology:

We're the first UK company with routine BVLOS permissions in non-segregated airspace. You'll be integrating systems for technology that's genuinely pioneering.

End-to-end responsibility:

From initial concept through design, integration, production, and flight testing -- you'll see the complete journey and own every step.

Immediate impact:

Your integrated systems will be flying missions over power grids, inspecting critical infrastructure that keeps the lights on.

A company that's scaling:

With major clients already onboard and expanding operations across the UK and Europe, this is the right time to join.

The Role

You're an integration engineer who doesn't just want to work on one part of a system -- you want to

own the complete process from design to flight

. You're technical enough to design robust electronic systems, methodical enough to manage complex integration challenges, and driven enough to take responsibility for entire UAV electrical and electronic systems.

This isn't a role where you're handed specifications to implement. You'll take ownership of complete systems, making design decisions, managing integration challenges, overseeing production, and ensuring everything works flawlessly in flight.

Working as part of our Integration Team and reporting to the Integration Manager, you'll be responsible for the electrical and electronic systems that enable our autonomous aircraft to operate safely and reliably in challenging real-world environments.

What You'll Do

System Design & Ownership:

Take complete responsibility for UAV electrical and electronic systems from initial concept through to operational deployment -- you own the entire process.

Integration Management:

Lead the integration of sensors, processors, communication systems, and power management into cohesive, flight-ready UAV systems.

Design & Development:

Create electronic designs and PCB layouts that form the backbone of autonomous UAV operations, optimising for reliability and performance.

Production & Build:

Take hands-on responsibility for building and producing your integrated systems, ensuring quality, consistency, and scalability as we grow.

Flight System Validation:

Take ownership of testing and validating your integrated systems through actual autonomous missions, with full responsibility for performance.

End-to-End Problem Solving:

When issues arise anywhere in the system -- design, integration, production, or flight -- you're the one who takes ownership and finds solutions.

Cross-functional Leadership: Work with software engineers, operations teams, and technicians, but you're the one accountable for the electrical and electronic systems performance.

About You

Hardware Development Experience:

Strong background across design, integration, testing, and production of complex electronic systems

Hands-on Skills:

Comfortable with soldering, prototyping, debugging, and working with test equipment -- this is practical engineering

Technical Breadth:

Experience with electronic design, PCB layout, system integration, or production processes

Problem-Solving Mindset:

Calm under pressure when systems don't work first time, methodical in troubleshooting complex issues

Fast-Paced Environment:

Thrive in rapid development cycles where you see immediate results from your work

Collaborative Approach:

Work effectively with diverse teams -- from software engineers to field operators

Educational Background:

Degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Bonus Points For:

UAV, avionics, or aerospace hardware experience

Production or manufacturing optimization experience

Familiarity with safety-critical systems development

Why This Matters

Your integrated systems will be flying autonomous missions over critical infrastructure, with you taking complete ownership from the initial electrical and electronic design through to operational performance. Unlike traditional engineering roles where you might work on one part of a system, here you'll own the entire integration process for UAV electrical and electronic systems.

Join engineers from F1, aerospace, and AI backgrounds who are passionate about solving real-world problems with complete system ownership. This is your chance to take full responsibility for technology that genuinely matters.
