Equans is looking for an Interim Category HUB Leader - Indirect & Professional Services to join the team on a 12-month Fixed term contract. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.







Our Category HUB Leaders play a pivotal role in maximising the value of Procurement at Equans UK&I by executing a structured, collaborative approach to category projects that optimises the procurement of similar products and services.



This specific role within the UK BU Central Procurement Team will focus on the Indirects & Professional Services HUB, encompassing a wide range of categories including:


HR Services:

Recruitment (Perm and contingent worforce), Training, Travel, Meetings & Events, and related services.

Fleet Management (Cars & Vans):

Leasing, Rental, Fuel & Fuel/EV Cards, Telematics, and associated vehicle services.

General Goods & Services:

Office supplies and services, Postal and distribution services, and other support functions.

IT & Telecoms:

Technology solutions and telecommunication services.

Professional & Financial Services:

Consultancy, Insurance, Banking Services, and related professional services.

IT order processing operations:

Management of internal order billing processes and tracking for IT and Telco equipment

By strategically managing these sub-categories, the Category HUB Leader and his team drive efficiencies, enhance collaboration, and secure value-driven outcomes for the business.



This leadership role within the Procurement Function is essential in delivering a unified, centralised support service across a diverse, autonomous, and nationally dispersed organisation.



The postholder leads a team of 7 procurement professionals. 2 Category Managers responsible for HR Services, IT & Telecom, Categories (Category Managers, Analysts). In addition to a team of 5 IT order processing operational analysts for IT. The Travel, Fleet, Professional services categories requiring direct management and oversight of the role holder.



The Category HUB leader acts as a key strategic interface with Divisional Directors, the UKBU CFO, CHRO, Legal, and HR teams.



This role is crucial in driving procurement performance, embedding category management best practices, and aligning strategic sourcing with business needs and sustainability objectives. The Category HUB Leader ensures alignment with group procurement strategy while fostering continuous improvement, innovation, and stakeholder engagement.



The appointed category HUB Leader will sit within the Procurement Senior Leadership Team (SLT) alongside the divisional Head of Procurement/Procurement Directors.




What will you deliver?







The successful applicant will provide category-specific expertise to the business, working closely with the operational and support functions teams as well as the broader Procurement team to ensure:


Compliance with the Equans UK&I Procurement Strategy, Policies, and Processes for category-specific spending. Delivery of solutions that address diverse business needs within the INDIRECT scope of responsibilities. Engagement with the parent company at Group level, affiliates and sister companies relevant stakeholders, domestically and internationally. Proactive input on reporting, including compliance, spend, and savings, with an eye toward continuous improvement. Fulfilment of local procurement needs through a structured category approach wherever feasible. Promotion of Category-led Framework Agreements and Contracts, ensuring all colleagues are informed of procurement protocols and pricing. Support for bid, mobilisation, and de-mobilisation activities as required. Alignment of Category strategies with Equans' sustainability (CSR), DE&I and IT commitments. Continuous alignment of solutions with business needs and market developments.

The Procurement Function operates in close partnership with suppliers and both internal and external customers to foster innovation, delivering value-driven, transformational outcomes for our clients, profitability for our business, and inspiration for our people.



The post holder may need to undertake other tasks as and when needed to support the priorities of the Procurement Function. National travel is part of this role.

Who are we looking for?




Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field Significant experience in Procurement with increasing leadership responsibility Strong Category knowledge across indirects Direct experience of EV Fleet esp. Van EV Fleet, Travel, Professional Services categories Good comprehension of Internal IT billing and recharging processes Experience of digitalisation and automation of Procurement processes Track record in delivering large-scale transformation and financial results Experience working in a matrix organisation with central and decentralised structures Demonstrated success leading people and complex projects in regulated sectors5+ years' experience in a similar role - Senior Procurement role Experience of stakeholder management and influencing Experience in developing work winning solutions with operational and business development stakeholders to drive better technical solutions and outcomes.
