Job Description

Purpose of the Role:




Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Deputy Head of Finance will lead on payroll delivery, support the production of management accounts, maintain cash flow, and line manage the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant. This is a hands-on role, ideal for a candidate with a strong financial background and excellent team leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:



Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Act as the primary point of contact for payroll queries and liaise with external payroll providers. Identify and implement improvements to payroll systems and internal controls. Produce first-draft monthly management accounts with full balance sheet and P&L reconciliations. Maintain and update forward-looking cash flow forecasts. Support the preparation of year-end management and statutory accounts. Work closely with the Head of Finance to provide timely and accurate financial reporting to Budget Holders. Manage, support, and develop the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant through supervision and appraisal. Contribute to delivering a 5-star service across the organisation.

About You:



We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented finance professional who: Has proven experience in payroll, management accounting, and financial reporting. Understands payroll regulations and pension administration. Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Has experience managing or supervising finance staff. Is confident using financial systems and Excel. Communicates effectively and works collaboratively across teams. Has a commitment to Pact's mission and values.
