Describe the work of the team and the department:The Employee Relations (ER) Team is responsible for providing end to end ER support and advice to managers and HRBPs on ER cases across the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Payment Systems Regulator (PSR), with oversight of applicable ER management reporting.
The ER team sits within the wider HR Policy & Delivery team, which also includes HR Advisory, HR Helpline, Payroll and Benefits.
The ER Consultants provide support on investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, capability cases, sickness cases, conduct-related issues and employment tribunals. Managers and HR colleagues that the team support are largely based in Stratford, East London, but could be located in our offices in Leeds or Edinburgh. The team provide advice and support via MS Teams, on the telephone, in writing or in person (depending on logistics).
What you will be doing (the role)
List the key responsibilities of this job:Case management - facilitating complex ER cases, including but not limited to investigations, disciplinary hearings, absence, appeals, grievances and performance management
Project management - providing professional, customer focused and commercial expert advice across the breadth of ER-related change projects such as business restructuring & redundancy
Litigation - liaising with and responding to ACAS early conciliation claims, and partnering with our external legal advisor in the preparation and defence of occasional Employment Tribunal claims
Building working relationships - work with HRBPs, line managers and, where relevant, internal teams such as Legal, Risk & Compliance and Cyber & Information Resilience to resolve employee-related matters. Work with the Staff Consultative Committee, including where an employee has a companion during an ER case
Management Information (MI) - contribute to the quality assurance/integrity of data in our case management system, the production of analytics (MI) on case volumes, insights and trends (for various audiences, including senior leadership), and assist in responding to Freedom of Information Requests, as required
Ad-hoc ER project work - this may include providing ER advice and procuring employment law opinion on cross-function projects that may impact a number of employees
Policy development and continuous process improvement - contribute to the evolution of ER policies and practices to comply with UK employment legislation and FCA/PSR requirements. This includes partnering on policy reviews and suggesting policy and process improvements based on experiences of cases and ER projects. Support the culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the wider HR Policy & Delivery team, with an ongoing focus on controls.

Required proven experience in a specific technical area or skill:Expert knowledge and proven experience managing the breadth of ER casework in a complex environment including investigations, disciplinary hearings, absence management, appeals, grievances, performance management, business change and redundancy, and drafting and negotiating settlement agreements
Proven ability working with data and MI
