The Role:
We are looking for an
Interim Finance Manager
to take responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of our business. Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with the wider Finance team, you will ensure the delivery of monthly management accounts, manage budgets and forecasts, support audit processes, and oversee payroll, cashflow, and tax coordination. This role plays a critical part in driving financial control, compliance, and strategic financial initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Preparation of monthly group management accounts and analysis
Oversight of the payroll process and cover for payroll assistant as needed
Budget and forecast preparation and support for business planning
Monitoring stock movements and financial controls
Lead the financial year-end and audit process
Tax and cash management, including VAT, payroll tax and R&D reporting
Fixed assets register and expense approvals
ERP/stock systems reconciliation (Sage and Dynamics BC)
Financial support to project teams and assistance with tender processes
Lead and develop finance team members, contributing to performance management
Support recruitment, communication, and professional development within the team
Ensure compliance with ISO and other QHSE standards
What We Are Looking For:
Degree or equivalent in Finance/Accounting or demonstrable relevant experience
Qualified accountant (e.g., CA, ACCA, CIMA)
Proven experience at company or divisional finance leadership level
Competence with ERP/MRP systems and implementation
Experience in preparing management and statutory accounts
Strong working knowledge of UK tax and regulatory compliance
Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
Desirable, but not essential:
Experience of group accounting and financial consolidation
Exposure to grant applications and R&D tax relief reporting
Experience in engineering or technology sectors
Understanding of building lease management and related statutory returns
