Mewscraft Ltd is a fast paced high-end design-led company specialising in commercial design and refurbishment. We provide a full design and refurbishment service, including 3D design, custom furniture design and manufacture, and contract works on site. This can include all construction works such as partitioning, electrics, plumbing, flooring, decoration etc. With our commitment to high standards of craftsmanship, design and customer service, we have built a strong reputation in the optical industry. Our offices and design studio are in a recently refurbished building in Monmouth Town centre.

Role Description



This may be a part time role, or a full time role, depending on the skills and experience of the candidate. We are looking for someone with an interior design, product design, architecture or construction background who can help manage both the creative side and the project management required. As a mid-weight designer/project manager you will carry out site visits while refurbishments are in progress, and manage all contractors involved. At other times you will assist with securing quotations from suppliers, and support the interior designers in our studio in Monmouth. As we have contracts all over the UK, at times it may be necessary to start early in the morning and drive quite long distances. Occasionally you may need to stay away for one or two nights of the week. The role will include the following:

Help manage and deliver design and fit-out projects from start to finish. Liaise directly with customers, ensuring expectations are met and exceeded. Oversee subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Maintain strong client relationships and ensure good communication throughout. Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and company procedures.
The candidate will work closely with clients, contractors and team members to ensure the successful completion of projects. Good communication skills are essential. We are looking for a practical person who is confident in the office but also able to pack up a van and travel to a premises to manage a refurbishment project.

The role will include



Working in a small team on 3-5 projects at any time Site surveys and client meetings Creating full project costing quotations and budgets Sourcing suitable suppliers and contractors Project management Working with contractors and suppliers to ensure the design and quality are executed as per the specification and to the highest standard Helping to coordinating all aspects of the design and refurbishment process Working closely with the Senior Interior Designer and the other Designers in the studio Being a valued team member, based in our studio in Monmouth. Please note this is not a remote-working role

Qualifications and Skills



Construction Drawings At least 3 years of experience in Project Management, Interior Design/Product Design within the construction industry. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D Experience with commercial interior fit-out projects Excellent problem-solving and communication skills Ability to work quickly, efficiently and within project timelines Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Product Design Fluent in spoken and written English Clean driving license
