The Ritual Works is a fabrication company that specialises in providing manufacturing solutions to various industries, from roofing and cladding and electrical engineering to architecture, the automotive industry, catering and medical. We take the best of traditional techniques and streamline them using state-of-the-art machinery and equipment. We fully embrace innovation and investment back into our factory and our staff. The Ritual Works is a place for people to learn, strive and excel in their talents.
We're looking for a capable welder-fabricator to produce steel, stainless-steel and aluminium parts, frames, and assemblies. You'll read drawings and weld symbols, prepare components to tolerance, and deliver neat, repeatable welds using both TIG and MIG (including AC TIG on aluminium). Typical work spans thin- to medium-gauge materials (?1.5-6 mm) with an emphasis on clean presentation, minimal distortion, and accurate fit-up.
Key Responsibilities
Read & prepare:
Interpret drawings, weld symbols, and basic WPS; create/verify cutting lists; mark out and prep edges (de-burr, bevel, clean) to support sound welds.
Fabricate:
Cut, drill, form, and assemble; set and clamp simple jigs/fixtures; confirm root gaps and squareness before tacking; check diagonals and flatness.
Weld (MIG/TIG):
> Stainless:
TIG/MIG on 304/316 components; manage heat input and interpass cleaning; use argon back-purging on critical root passes.
> Aluminium:
AC TIG on alloys; MIG with spool/push-pull or liner setups; maintain clean joint prep and correct torch angle.
> Work primarily in
PA/PB
positions; produce tidy fillet and butt welds with good penetration and finish.
> Steel production welding:
Perform high-volume mild-steel MIG welds to takt time using jigs/fixtures, maintaining consistent bead quality and dimensions across batch runs.
Consumables & setup:
Select appropriate filler/wire (e.g., ER308L/316L, ER4043/5356), shield gases (100% Ar for TIG/aluminium MIG; Ar-based mixes for stainless MIG), and set parameters (wire speed, voltage/amperage, AC balance).
Distortion control:
Use tack strategy, stitch/back-step techniques, heat sinking, and controlled sequence to keep frames true.
Finish:
Dress/grind where specified; carry out basic stainless clean-down (e.g., mechanical clean or passivation request) and prepare work for coating/installation.
Quality checks:
Measure to tolerance (typically 1 mm unless stated), visual inspection for undercut/porosity, rework as needed; complete simple job records.
Care for kit:
Keep torches, liners, nozzles, contact tips, and tungstens in good order; check LEV/fume extraction; flag maintenance needs early.
Teamwork & safety:
Communicate clearly with colleagues; follow PPE, handling, and hot-work procedures.
