Main purpose of role:

The Electrician specialising in Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) installations will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining solar photovoltaic systems in compliance with PAS2030/35 standards. The role requires a high level of technical competence, formal electrical qualifications, and specialist knowledge of rooftop safety, photovoltaic systems, and working at height. This position involves working independently and collaboratively on renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Main duties

Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) System Installation:

Install and commission solar photovoltaic systems, including inverters, wiring, and associated electrical equipment, in compliance with PAS2030/35 standards.

Perform electrical connections and ensure proper integration with the property's electrical systems.

System Design and Planning:

Assist in the design and layout of photovoltaic systems to optimise energy generation.

Conduct site assessments to evaluate suitability for SPV installations, considering roof structure, shading, and electrical configurations.

Safety Compliance:

Ensure all installations comply with rooftop safety protocols and working-at-height regulations.

Perform risk assessments and implement safety measures to protect workers, clients, and equipment.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

Diagnose and repair faults in existing photovoltaic systems.

Perform routine maintenance to ensure systems are functioning efficiently.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure installations meet UK electrical regulations, including Part P and Building Regulations.

Maintain compliance with PAS2030:2019 standards and any relevant industry certifications.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work collaboratively with other trades and team members to ensure timely project completion.

Liaise with clients to provide system demonstrations and address queries.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Required:

Qualifications

: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations (Building and Structures), Part P Compliance Certification, PAS2030:2019 Certification, and 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671). Proven experience in electrical installations and renewable energy projects. Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, solar PV technology, and associated components, with excellent troubleshooting skills. Strong attention to detail with problem-solving skills, and effective communication. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work flexibly. Basic health and safety awareness. Ability to ensure that Waltham Forest services Ltd Health & Safety, Customer Care and Communications policies are understood and applied as appropriate for this job level. Able to work as part of a 7-day Rota including out of hours. Able to take part in an out of hours on call Rota. Must hold a valid UK driving license.

Desirable:

Experience of delivering Solar Panel installations LCL Awards Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Small Scale Solar Photovoltaic Systems (LCL-SPV-3)

Pay: 42,335.60 per year
