Health & Safety Officer (Full-Time)
Location: Mid Wales | Salary: 38,000 -
We are seeking a committed and conscientious Health & Safety Officer to join our well-established scaffolding business based in Mid Wales.
This appointment follows the sudden and deeply felt loss of our long-serving team member and recently appointed H&S Officer, Leigh, who was a valued and respected member of our team. We are now looking to build on the strong foundations he helped create by appointing someone who shares our high standards and practical approach to health and safety.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and continuous improvement of our internal health and safety systems across all areas of operation. This includes RAMS development, inspections, compliance, training support, and mentoring of apprentices through their training with a particular focus on safe working practices.
Principal responsibilities:
Preparation and oversight of RAMS
Conducting regular site inspections and internal audits
Investigating incidents and near misses
Delivering toolbox talks and safety briefings
Maintaining H&S documentation, registers and training records
Supporting scaffold inspection routines and tagging systems
Mentoring apprentices and promoting a strong safety culture
Attending client meetings and audits as a professional safety representative
Supporting business development by building client confidence through compliance and communication
Candidate Profile
We welcome applications from both:
Qualified H&S professionals with construction or scaffolding experience
Individuals from a trade background (especially scaffolding) seeking to transition into a safety-focused role, with potential support for relevant training (e.g. NEBOSH)
Desirable but not necessary qualifications and experience:
NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
Working towards or holding TechIOSH status
Scaffold inspection or Temporary Works training (advantageous)
Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills
