About the role:
To develop, manage and coordinate a strong strategic approach and opportunities for sport, physical activity and wellbeing in Powys communities with a particular focus on partnerships and collaboration.
To increase participation based on identified evidence and need, linked to strategic priorities whilst raising awareness of benefits and impact to support the health and well-being agenda.
About you:

  • Possess personal qualities of motivation, enthusiasm, determination and innovation and someone who is self-motivated, enthusiastic with a passion for sport and the role it can play in improving the quality of lives in Powys.
  • Previous experience in working in sport, physical activity or leisure and a passion for increasing physical activity opportunities and participation in Powys.
  • Experience of working with children and young people and a range of partners.
  • Knowledge of Sports Development, Sport Wales and Disability Sport Wales theory and practices.
  • An understanding of local sports participation inequality issues, barriers and challenges for children, young people and adults.
What you will do:
- To further develop and enhance a wide range of strategic partnership arrangements (public, third & business sectors, health and social care) to enable effective planning and collaboration that will support 'The Golden Thread' (Corporate Strategic Equalities Plan)
- To ensure that inclusive sport and physical activity opportunities are available in accordance with identified local needs and strategic priorities, actively promoting schemes, monitoring success and highlighting good practice, reporting as required
- To lead the local authority, its partners and stakeholders using the Insport framework to improve quality and performance to achieve the next stages of accreditation
- Connect the work of the community programmes including clubs, organisations and projects to the strategic aspirations for sport in Wales and the development of healthier and more active communities
- To represent Powys and Social Services and Community Wellbeing at local, regional and national opportunities as and when required and as part of a regional and national disability sport network
- Be influential in the development of partnerships and networks whilst effectively encouraging and enabling collaborative working with health, public health, education, social care services and other organisations as appropriate
