Internal Technical Sales Engineer
to strengthen our internal sales operations and support our global customer base.
The Role
As an Internal Technical Sales Engineer, you will act as a key technical contact for customers, providing product expertise, preparing technical quotations, and supporting the external sales team. You will help identify opportunities, and ensure customers receive clear, accurate engineering information throughout the sales cycle.
This role combines technical understanding, customer service, and commercial awareness, making it ideal for someone with engineering knowledge who enjoys customer interaction and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Sales & Support
Work closely with the external sales team to understand customer requirements and provide technical support throughout the enquiry and quotation process.
Develop an in-depth knowledge of Xtrutech products, including features, benefits, applications, and technical specifications.
Prepare accurate technical quotations and product proposals for customers.
Interpret customer needs, drawings, and specifications to recommend suitable solutions.
Generate and qualify leads through email, phone calls, and other channels.
Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling of equipment, spare parts, and service packages.
Analyse sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Office & Sales Administration
Manage and maintain sales documentation, including enquiries, quotations, orders, and customer communication records.
Support the preparation and maintenance of customer contracts for capital equipment.
Ensure administrative processes are accurate, efficient, and aligned with sales workflows.
Support a collaborative, customer-focused working environment across the office.
Customer Relations & Process Improvement
Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships through timely, professional communication.
Provide prompt responses to technical enquiries and resolve issues by liaising with engineering and production teams.
Support improvements to internal processes that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to improve cross-functional workflows.
What We're Looking For
Experience in an internal sales, technical sales, or customer support role.
Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand mechanical equipment and engineering concepts.
Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering
or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
Preferred Experience
Background in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, extrusion, or capital equipment.
Experience interpreting engineering drawings or technical specifications.
