How does this role contribute to our collective success?
The International Property Underwriter will act as a representative within established guidelines to enhance the global position of AXIS. The candidate will be responsible for helping to manage the current book whilst developing new business opportunities, making recommendations based on their knowledge of local market conditions.
What will you do in this role?Prospects new business targets and opportunities. Develops and manages a pipeline for prospecting new business, targeting of established and lapsed business relationships. Reviews and evaluates new business opportunities business based upon company underwriting guidelines, competition and geographic focus. Underwrites an existing, renewing book of business. Works closely with distribution partners to ensure AXIS receives opportunity to quote acceptable risks. Make strategic recommendations. Meets established underwriting team servicing objectives related to quote turnaround, policy issuance, account and renewal management, file maintenance and documentation. Reviews coverage requests provided by broker and determine department's position relating to such requests within individual authority granted. Presents requests outside the individual authority to immediate supervisor for approval or guidance. Analyses and underwrites individual risks. Develops appropriate limit structure, retention, pricing and endorsements within underwriting guidelines. Refers risks to manager for approval. An understanding of CAT Modelling outputs and using these results to help guide but not dictate underwriting decisions (AIR preferred) Continues to develop and update product and underwriting knowledge. Cross markets between the product offerings within the department and other business units. Maintains up-to-date familiarity with economic, Geo-Political and legal factors that impact the department's products. Participates in special projects and department initiatives at the request of manager. Coordinates with marketing representatives and profit centre representatives to allow for cross marketing. Business travel may be required from time to time to meet these responsibilities. Assist in training and management of more junior team members. Confidence to meet individually with clients and be able to articulate the Global Property Team's appetite for risk. Keeping up to date with market conditions, market trends and being able to adapt these to day to day underwriting

What you need to have:Highly motivated self-starter who can quickly assess marketplace opportunities, analyse and assess those opportunities for the benefit of AXIS and its clients A minimum of 5-7 years' relevant experience in property underwriting/broking and/or brokering An ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience at all levels, including Executive Leadership. Strong analytical skills and proven ability to align business analysis with departmental strategy Excellent negotiation, interpersonal/communication skills, and strong marketing abilities Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities Excellent team-working skills Accurate and diligent working approach Ability to establish broker relationships.
