We're hiring an international tax specialist to help us improve the capabilities of our AI international tax product and scale it across jurisdictions. This role is for someone who has spent 3-5 years doing international tax work at a big 4 or internal tax team, and wants to translate their domain expertise into a transformative tax product used by the world's largest tech companies.
Aegiss is a venture-backed AI startup building a product to help internal tax teams verify local tax rules for their international jurisdictions quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively. We're backed by Ada Ventures, have a highly experienced founding team, and our early customers include some of the largest tech companies in Europe and the US.
In this role, you will be our subject matter expert and authority on international corporate tax, and the critical link between the tax domain and our AI model. This will involve guiding tax logic for the model and supporting evaluation/validation. You will work directly with the founders, and will meaningfully contribute to, and influence, product decisions. The role will be based in our Edinburgh office on Queen Street with flexibility to work from home.
What you'll be doing
Translate technical accounting rules into structured, unambiguous logic that can be used to train and evaluate our model.
Develop high-quality evaluation questions, edge cases, and reasoning tests that reflect real international tax advisory scenarios.
Review and challenge the model's outputs to queries; identify failure modes, reasoning gaps, and rule-misinterpretations.
Help shape our taxonomy for global corporate tax rules and cross-border interactions (entity, nexus, base, rates, admin, etc.).
Using your domain expertise to bring new perpesctives to the table to help us improve the product.
Support in onboarding new jurisdictions into the model.

Ability to work within a rapidly changing, fast moving, autonomous environment.
No AI expertise or coding experience is required.
What's in it for you

A strong compensation package including equity, reflective of your expertise and the early-stage nature of the role.

An incredibly hands on, no bureaucracy role, with the chance to meaningfully contribute to the direction and development of the product.
