Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join the MOOC Institute as a
Public Outreach and Promotion Intern
. In this role, you will focus on enhancing the visibility and impact of the MOOC Institute through strategic use of social media, online platforms, conferences, events, and multimedia initiatives. You will also play a key role in building upon the foundation of our recently published paper on the successes of MOOCs, helping to translate this work into engaging and accessible content for a broader audience.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media and Online Presence:
Develop and execute a social media strategy to promote the MOOC Institute's work, including creating posts, managing engagement, and tracking analytics across platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
Create visually appealing and informative content such as infographics, short videos, and blog posts to communicate key ideas from the published paper.
Create and manage new social media accounts for the MOOC Institute.
Podcast Development:
Conceptualize and produce a podcast episode inspired by the published paper on MOOCs' successes.
Collaborate with the MOOC Institute team to invite and engage academics referenced in the paper's bibliography as guest speakers.
Draft outreach emails/letters to relevant academics, including:
A brief introduction to the MOOC Institute.
An invitation to be a guest on a MOOC Institute podcast about the paper authored by Melisa Kasap, featuring their participation to discuss key themes such as MOOCs, the future of online education, and the future of MOOCs.
A mention of the podcast's availability on Spotify, with an opportunity for academics to plug their current work.
Details about the podcast recording options (online via Zoom or WhatsApp, or in our London Victoria office).
Manage recording, editing, and release of the podcast on platforms like Spotify.
Event and Conference Outreach:
Identify and participate in relevant conferences, webinars, and events to promote the MOOC Institute's work.
Assist in planning and organizing events where the MOOC Institute can showcase its mission and achievements.
Collaboration and Networking:
Engage with educational leaders, institutions, and influencers to strengthen partnerships and increase the reach of the MOOC Institute's initiatives.
Build relationships with journalists, bloggers, and other media professionals to amplify publicity efforts.
Content Creation and Writing:
Draft articles, press releases, and blog posts highlighting the ongoing work and vision of the MOOC Institute.
Develop educational materials based on the findings and insights of the published paper to share with diverse audiences.
Qualifications:
Passion for education, technology, and the potential of MOOCs.
Strong communication skills, including writing, editing, and public speaking.
Experience or interest in social media management and digital marketing.
Creative mindset with the ability to generate engaging content.
Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or podcast editing software is a plus.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Prior experience in public relations, journalism, or multimedia production is desirable but not required.
