Your role and responsibilities


The Sensory Service, is a progressive and dynamic team, seeking to recruit an Intervenor with an ability to support Multisensory impaired (MSI) children and young people in schools.

An Intervenor provides 1:1 support for Multisensory impaired (MSI) children, enabling them to access their education, develop their communication strategies and understand the environment around them. As an Intervenor you will be supporting children in their school settings, your role will be to support their communication access needs and social emotional and mental health needs, help them to take part in the learning and socially inclusive life of school. There will be opportunities to collaborate with colleagues within the wider team supporting children and young people in their homes, this may consist of visual stimulation programmes and offering appropriate support in the use of tactile skills. Flexibility in this role is important as you may be asked to cover in the event of staff absence. You will work alongside our specialist teacher for Multisensory Impairment, Lead Intervenor, and our team of Intervenors. Promoting the use of Multisensory adaptions to teaching and learning, to develop their independence, whilst ensuring their safety and welfare. You will follow the direction of the class teacher whilst sharing your knowledge of the young person. You will have the ability to work collaboratively and promote partnerships with young people, parents, and professionals. You will have good communication with parents and carers. Undertake the necessary training to support any medical needs. Maintain up to date records and complete termly progress reports. You will be able to adapt and create learning resources to support access to learning. The ability to adapt and cover staff absence when needed.



You will need



Good communication skills and be confident in working with children and young people who have Multisensory access needs in their educational settings. You will need a proactive approach to adapting resources to meet the individual access needs of the children and young people. You will need to have the highest standards, be able to deliver change quickly and willing to give your all.
