The multi-award winning show, BBC Wales Investigates is seeking a talented journalist to join our team in Cardiff. As an investigative journalist, you will have the opportunity to engage with people from all walks of life, encouraging them to share their experiences in accurate and accessible ways. If you are passionate about generating and investigating strong story ideas, conducting in-depth research, and producing compelling content, then this is the perfect role for you.

As part of our team, you will have the chance to work on stories that matter. You will be responsible for investigating and developing stories that have the potential to become impactful programmes or content. We are seeking a candidate with strong journalistic skills, an understanding of news and current affairs, and strong editorial judgment. Knowledge of producer guidelines is essential.

Role Responsibility

Working closely with the Editor, Producers, and other team members, you will contribute to the production of creative, imaginative, and exciting content that informs and educates our audience. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Story Development: Generate and investigate compelling story ideas that have the potential to make a real impact. Use your research and journalistic skills to uncover and explore important issues.
  • Interviews and Research: Conduct interviews with a wide range of individuals, encouraging them to share their experiences and perspectives. Conduct thorough research to support your storytelling and ensure accuracy.
  • Content Production: Collaborate with the team to produce high-quality content for various platforms, including TV, radio, and digital outlets. Contribute to the development of engaging programs that captivate our audience.
  • News Distribution: Identify relevant clips, prepare two-ways, and supply materials to news outlets. Ensure that our stories reach a wide audience and have a lasting impact.
  • Sensitive Material Handling: Work with extreme sensitivity and professionalism when dealing with legally and editorially sensitive material. Respect privacy and confidentiality while maintaining the highest journalistic standards.
