We are seeking an IP Director to join a leading organisation within the life science industry. This role requires an individual with expertise in intellectual property management and patents within the biologics space.
The IP Director will join a thriving business in Cambridge and be the sole IP professional. Stepping to cover a period of absence, the IP Director role will allow established IP Directors to work in a fast paced and dynamic CDMO or provide an excellent step up to ambitious Patent Attorneys or IP Managers.Responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the company on all areas of IP.
• Developing and implementing strategies for protecting intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
• Negotiating and drafting IP agreements, licenses, etc.
• Manage the patent and trademark portfolios. this will include drafting, filing & submission, and prosecuting patent and trademark applications.
• Be part of the decision making team to identify, agree and be part of the development of future areas of innovation and technical improvements,
• Work closely with the wider business to identify potential IP from innovation and technology development programmes.
• Develop and manage the IP budget.
• Staying abreast IP law developments.

Head of IP / IP DirectorCambridge
A successful IP Director should have:

• A strong and proven background in intellectual property law, ideally inhouse in biologics or bioconjugates (although Attorneys from private practice with strong Life Sciences client base are encouraged to apply)
• Professional qualifications in Patents as a Patent Attorney or a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
• Ideally hold a PhD
• Experience in managing IP portfolios and IP documentation.
• Knowledge of patent and trademark laws and procedures.
• Exposure to CDMOs would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
