Ip Paralegal

London, United Kingdom

Job Description

The role
We are looking for an experienced IP paralegal to support our intellectual property practice in London, UK. This is a permanent, full-time role, reporting to the IP partners.
The role will involve supporting both our trade mark and designs portfolio practice, and our broader disputes practice which includes court litigation and general enforcement work, all within the IP sphere. Based in one of the UK's leading IP practices, you'll be part of a team working for a wide range of impressive clients across multiple sectors.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Disputes support: Conduct targeted factual research (from online captures to occasional test purchases), collate and organise evidence, assist with drafting witness statements and exhibits, and prepare bundles and indices for submissions. You'll draft correspondence under supervision, submit official and court documents via email and online portals, liaise with courts/registries and external providers (such as counsel's clerks and e-disclosure/transcript services), and maintain matter hygiene-deadlines, task tracking, file management, and clear attendance notes.
  • Portfolio practice: Manage active matter report schedules, attend client calls and capture instructions, carry out identical and proprietor searches, handle trade mark and design filing and prosecution, prepare renewal schedules, review watching services, respond to portfolio-related client enquiries, and undertake some formalities tasks and legal research, and related client administration tasks.
Beyond the day-to-day, we are looking for someone who is interested in contributing to the team more broadly; for example, taking part in training sessions and supporting practice development initiatives.
About you
We're looking for a talented individual with a proven interest in IP work, who is keen to develop their expertise and progress within a collaborative, supportive team. We are looking to fill this role quickly so you will need to be able to start work with, at most, one month's notice.
More specifically, you must have:
  • A strong academic record, including a law degree or PGDL, probably achieving a first-class or at least a high grade 2.1 degree. A master's degree in IP will be preferred, but we will be looking for studies in IP work at least at undergraduate level.
  • At least 6 months' experience working as a paralegal or formalities assistant in a dedicated IP team.
Alongside those essential criteria, you'll also be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills, including the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Naturally, you'll need strong skills in communication, commercial acumen and analytical thinking and the drive to deliver an exceptional service.
About the team
Our intellectual property team is widely regarded as market-leading, offering a one-stop-shop 360 IP service (with the exception of patent filing). We are highly ranked and routinely recognised by leading IP guides, including being ranked Gold by World Trade Mark Review 1000 and awarded Managing IP's UK Copyright Firm of the Year in 2025.
We expect to fill this role quickly, so please don't delay in submitting your application. The vacancy will close to new candidates once we have had a sufficient number of suitable applications.
No agencies please.
