The role
As our IT Business Support Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day delivery of desktop and workplace support across the business, ensuring a high-quality, reliable, and customer-focused service for all employees. You will provide hands-on technical support across Windows and macOS devices, telephony, email and work based systems, and in-house applications, while guiding and developing a small team of support engineers.
You will take ownership of managing issues, request fulfilment, and operational improvements, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and underlying problems are identified and eliminated. This role suits a proactive professional who can combine strong technical capability with leadership, communication, and a passion for continuous improvement.
You must be comfortable working independently, prioritising effectively, and positively represent the IT Business Support function to stakeholders.
You will be based from the Stafford Head Office with occasional visits to our London and Bolton office.
Key Responsibilities

Manage, mentor, and coordinate the IT Business support team to deliver an excellent support experience.
Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues across Windows, macOS, hardware, software such as Google WorkSpace, Microsoft, Anti Virus and Malware protections, and Microsoft Active Directory.
Oversee and handle the installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, and associated peripherals.
Manage issue and request queues, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with users and the offices. Analyse any recurring issues, identify root causes, and drive continuous improvements
Continually work with the team to enhance the security and resilience of our work placed systems
Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, ensuring IT support aligns with business needs.
Lead hardware lifecycle planning, procurement, asset management, and secure disposal and auditing thereof
Support onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring smooth user transitions and support. Maintain documentation, procedures, and knowledge bases to a high standard.
Essential Qualities

At least 3-4 years' proven experience in a desktop or IT support role, including some team coordination or mentoring responsibilities.
Ability to work independently and lead others with confidence and clarity.
Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to identifying and resolving root causes.
A mindset focused on automation, efficiency, and service reliability.
Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities backed up by clear communication.
Genuine enthusiasm for systems administration and keeping up to date with modern tools and technologies.
Proactive with a commitment to delivering an excellent IT service.
Interpersonal skills: written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
