The Middle Office team plays a crucial role in their Trading function, overseeing risk management, and effectively managing exposure to energy markets.

As a manager, you\'ll lead a dynamic team of analysts in comprehending, quantifying, and handling the risks and opportunities associated with energy product transactions in our markets. With a sharp analytical mindset, you\'ll guide the team in generating precise and timely forecasts and insightful analyses.

These insights will be instrumental in driving targets across Northern Ireland\'s largest energy customer base and renewable portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee risk management in the Trading function, gaining in-depth insights into our exposure to volatile markets, and ensuring accurate measurement and reporting of critical metrics.
  • Lead and mentor a team of proficient analysts, prioritizing integrity and performance, and taking charge of their long-term growth through a coaching approach.
  • Collaborate with various business units to translate market understanding into actionable insights, exhibiting confidence in communication and building trust as a dependable partner.
  • Develop and refine customer demand forecasts, spanning from immediate to long-term projections, supporting our Trading teams in maximizing value.
  • Generate precise forecasts of sales and gross profit, presenting them in a manner that aids critical decision-making processes.
  • Continuously enhance and produce commercial performance analyses, deepening our comprehension of performance at both the portfolio and individual customer levels.
  • Spearhead projects that enhance the value proposition of the Power NI Trading function, working with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
Essential Criteria:
  • Minimum 2.1 degree in a relevant subject with a strong numerical/statistical background (e.g., Mathematics, Science, Engineering).
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing complex data and analysis models, showcasing agility and creativity in problem-solving for consistent, accurate results.
  • Proficiency in interpreting intricate datasets to extract valuable commercial insights.
  • Effective communication of insights to senior stakeholders, driving actionable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated systematic approach to time management and self/team organization.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience in managing and nurturing a team of analysts.
  • Knowledge of electricity retail and wholesale markets.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing projects.
  • Proficiency in using relevant BI tools/analysis platforms such as QlikView, Power BI, Python.
