Job Description


The University of Essex is looking for a part-time (18 hours per week), permanent IT Health and Safety Coordinator to join Digital Innovation and Technology Services (DITS).

Do you like variety and a challenge, with this role no two days are the same with a range of low to high risk health and safety requirements including engineering workshops, networks infrastructure, datacentres, staff PC deployment, media studios, on location filming, telephony, teaching rooms (audio visuals and PCs), student PC labs and offices?

Are you a Health and Safety expert who excels at cultivating a positive health and safety culture? Are you able to communicate health and safety effectively to a wide audience and have excellent communication, team working and organisation skills? This could be the role for you.

Working closely with the University\xe2\x80\x99s Workplace Health and Wellbeing team, you will support the implementation of the University\xe2\x80\x99s Health and Safety Policy across all three campuses. The role is based on our Colchester campus with occasional travel to our other campuses in Southend and Loughton. There is an excellent benefits package including generous pension contributions, with options for flexible working.

You will be a Technical Member (Tech IOSH) of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), or Graduate Member of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (Grad IOSH) working towards Chartered Membership or have an equivalent qualification/experience.
