About the Role

We're looking for an experienced IT Helpdesk Technician who thrives on solving technical challenges and keeping systems running efficiently. In this role, you'll provide hands-on support to colleagues, assist with IT projects, and help maintain our hardware, software, and network infrastructure, making a real impact on day-to-day operations.

This is a chance to support a growing engineering business, improve IT processes, and be part of a team that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

User Support & Training

Provide friendly, efficient 1st and 2nd line support for hardware and software queries. Assist colleagues at all levels, providing guidance and IT training to help them get the most from technology. Know when to escalate complex issues to the IT Manager or Cyber Security Lead.

System Maintenance & Infrastructure

Upgrade and rebuild end-user machines, keeping devices performing at their best. Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows Servers, desktops, firewalls, and network equipment. Manage user permissions in Active Directory and Azure and maintain regular system checks and backups. Monitor vendors for firmware updates and apply them promptly, ensuring systems are secure and up to date.

Project Support & Process Improvement

Work on ad-hoc IT projects and system upgrades alongside the IT Manager and Cyber Security Lead. Identify opportunities to improve IT processes and services, collaborating with colleagues to implement positive change. Support the integration and maintenance of internal business systems, with the opportunity to expand responsibilities as the role evolves.

About you

You're a confident IT Support professional who thrives on helping people and solving problems. You're experienced in providing practical, hands-on support to users, with a skill for troubleshooting and finding solutions quickly.

You're confident working with Windows configuration, Windows Server (AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP), and Office 365, and you have a solid understanding of network infrastructure, including subnets, VLANs, and routing. Upgrading and maintaining desktops and laptops is second nature, and experience with firewalls, SonicWall in particular, is a bonus.

You understand cyber security principles and know how to apply them in practical, day-to-day IT operations, helping keep systems safe and reliable. You communicate clearly and effectively, can organise your workload efficiently, and thrive when managing multiple priorities.

Experience with ERP systems or business system integration is highly desirable, giving you the opportunity to expand your role and make a tangible impact on how the business operates.
