We are looking for a highly motivated IT Manager to lead the Diocese's technology strategy, act as the lead client for our outsourced IT service, and support the development of secure, modern, and effective digital systems across our central teams and parishes.
This is a pivotal role in shaping how we use technology to serve the Church, from upgrading systems and managing digital risks, to championing the use of Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and new technologies including AI.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
: Oversee IT infrastructure and act as the main contact for outsourced IT services, driving upgrades and innovation.
System Standardisation
: Implement consistent hardware, software, and connectivity solutions across the Diocese.
: Support new system rollouts, champion Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, and manage ethical AI adoption.
Data Protection
: Ensure GDPR compliance and assist with audits and data requests.
Training & Reporting
: Deliver IT training, maintain documentation, and present reports to leadership.
Risk Management
: Identify and mitigate IT risks, maintain risk registers, and lead incident response.
Essential
Recognised IT qualification
Competent in TIA, Microsoft Certified, ITIL
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cyber security, and networks
Demonstrated experience of managing outsourced IT services
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proven ability to lead change and deliver complex projects
Ability to support and train non-technical users
Strong report writing and confident presentation skills
Desirable
Degree in IT or related discipline or equivalent level
Experience working in a church, charity or not-for-profit setting
Experience with AI technologies in business applications
Familiarity with telecoms procurement and systems
Experience supporting data protection compliance
Certification in project management (e.g., Prince2, Agile)
