Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced IT Manager to join our organisation and take responsibility for managing our local network infrastructure, data, and security compliance. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Microsoft-based networks and possess the ability to establish and maintain relationships with third-party vendors for cloud and networking support. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong leadership and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Local Network Infrastructure Management:
Design, implement, and maintain the organisation's local network infrastructure.
Ensure network connectivity, availability, and performance meet business requirements.
Oversee network equipment installations, configurations, and upgrades.
Troubleshoot and resolve network issues promptly to minimise downtime.
Monitor network traffic and analyse usage patterns to optimise performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network-related projects.
Data Management:
Develop and implement data management policies and procedures.
Ensure data integrity, security, and availability.
Regularly back up critical data and implement disaster recovery plans.
Monitor data storage capacity and plan for future requirements.
Stay up-to-date with data protection regulations and implement necessary compliance measures.
Security Compliance:
Establish and enforce security policies and procedures to protect network resources.
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Implement and manage security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
Stay informed about emerging threats and recommend appropriate security solutions.
Coordinate with internal/external teams to respond to security incidents and conduct incident investigations.
Vendor and Third-Party Relationship Management:
Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with cloud and networking service providers.
Manage contracts and service level agreements with vendors.
Monitor vendor performance and ensure compliance with agreed-upon terms.
Coordinate vendor support for network-related issues and escalations.
Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies related to cloud and networking.
Team Leadership:
Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the IT team.
Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
Identify training and development needs for team members.
Stay current with industry best practices and share knowledge with the team.
Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT management or a similar role.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft-based networks, including Active Directory, Windows Server, and Exchange.
Experience managing a support desk team with 1st and 2nd line roles.
Leadership and Communication Skills:
Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in network administration, including LAN/WAN, routing, switching, and wireless technologies.
Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
Knowledge of data management and backup strategies.
Understanding of security best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and encryption protocols.
Experience with compliance and security frameworks, such as Cyber Essentials, GDPR or ISO27001, and their implementation.
Nice to Have Skills:
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure management and containerisation technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
Certifications and Qualifications:
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
CompTIA Security+ or equivalent security certifications.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.
