ROLE SUMMARY

OVERVIEW OF THE POST



To ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, and development of all IT and communication systems across the organisation, providing timely technical support and troubleshooting to staff and volunteers

To conduct regular visits to all North-West locations to check hardware, resolve IT issues, and deliver on-site support, ensuring consistent service standards across all sites

To maintain and improve IT processes, systems, and documentation, supporting effective service delivery, data integrity, and compliance with organisational standards and procedures

To support the organisation's digital transformation by developing and implementing solutions using tools such as Microsoft Power Platform and AI to streamline processes and improve service efficiency

ROLE & MAIN PURPOSES OF THE POST



Delivery



Provide responsive, user-focused IT support to staff and volunteers, resolving technical issues via phone, email, and face-to-face support across all sites

Maintain, install, and configure hardware, software, and peripherals, ensuring reliable and secure access to systems for both on-site and remote workers

Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls, supporting effective onboarding and ensuring adherence to organisational standards

Monitor systems and security events, support updates and patches, and carry out routine maintenance to ensure stability and compliance

Maintain accurate logging and documentation of support requests, assets, and system changes, ensuring clear audit trails and efficient service delivery

Business & Service Development



Support the organisation's digital transformation by developing, maintaining, and improving solutions using tools such as Microsoft Power Platform and AI

Work proactively with teams to understand digital needs, identify process improvements, and support the introduction of new tools, systems, and ways of working

Deliver training and guidance to staff and volunteers to build digital confidence and maximise effective use of systems

Contribute to the development of IT procedures, documentation, and best-practice guidance to support consistent and future-focused service delivery

Financial & Resource Management



Maintain accurate IT inventories, tracking assets, equipment lifecycle, and license usage to ensure resources are deployed effectively across the organisation

Support procurement by identifying needs, advising on suitable solutions, and helping to secure best value for hardware, software, and support services

Monitor resource usage and identify opportunities to reduce costs, streamline processes, and improve the efficiency of internal IT services

Support IT Manager in the planning of IT upgrades and replacements to ensure systems remain reliable, secure, and aligned with organisational requirements

People Management & Development



Line management of volunteers, students or trainees

Shares specialist skills and knowledge with others

Embeds culture and values through own behaviours and providing supportive challenge to others.

Internal Management



Supports the effective operation and improvement of core business functions through compliance
