As a key member of the IT Services team, you will deliver
1st and 2nd line technical support
to staff and students across the College, ensuring systems run smoothly and users are empowered to make the most of their digital tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1st/2nd line technical support via phone, email, and face-to-face
Diagnose and resolve a range of technical issues, escalating where necessary
Accurately log support tickets using the IT helpdesk system
Troubleshoot common problems such as password resets, printer issues, and software installations
Assist with configuring and installing desktops, laptops, and associated hardware
Perform routine maintenance tasks including updates, backups, and security checks
Support the deployment of new software and hardware across the College
Maintain IT asset inventory and manage service/warranty agreements
Deliver end-user training and support in using IT systems and applications
Promote IT best practices including data security, hybrid teaching tools, and backup protocols
Contribute to the development and documentation of IT policies and procedures
Keep up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
Support compliance with health and safety policies and undertake relevant training
Perform other tasks as directed by the IT Systems Administrator or Head of IT
Essential Criteria
Proven experience delivering 1st/2nd line IT support in a similar environment
Strong technical skills with Windows and macOS (Linux a plus)
Experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing)
Knowledge of server environments, particularly Windows Server and Active Directory
Experience with SQL Server and backup/disaster recovery procedures
Familiarity with enterprise-grade networking hardware (switches, routers, firewalls)
Strong endpoint protection knowledge (e.g. antivirus, anti-malware solutions
