At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for an IT Service Desk Manager to join our team.


This role is based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield. Our IT department ensures that all digital systems, infrastructure, software, and data operations run smoothly to support the group.


As an IT Service Desk manager, you will manage the IT Service desk to deliver a high standard of IT support to Sheffield Forgemasters' end-users and the IT systems across the business.

What you'll be doing

Working to ITIL v4 framework. Team management, including resource planning, 1-2-1s, appraisals and objectives setting. Continuous Service Improvement by researching latest relevant frameworks and vendor best practices. Acting as an escalation point for all IT areas, applications, and business processes. Tracking compliance with service level agreements (SLAs). Logging all relevant incident / service request details, allocating categorisation and prioritisation codes within the IT Service Management system. Providing 1st / 2nd line investigation and diagnosis. Resolving incidents / service requests when first contacted, whenever possible. Managing escalating incidents / service requests that cannot be resolved within agreed timescales. Ensuring that all system and operating documentation and knowledge is up to date and properly utilised. Supporting service deployment activities.

About You

Experience working in a similar role. Strong IT Knowledge: Microsoft Windows Operating Systems version 10 & 11 Microsoft Office 2016 and above. A wide range of hardware fix experience: PC's, Laptops, Smart Phones and tablets. Cyber Security Awareness. ITIL Framework knowledge. Flexible to work on a planned On-call support rota and on occasional ad-hoc basis for essential out of hours work in, when required.

The Working Pattern

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. People working with government / MOD assets must complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks.

These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 - 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
