Portsmouth Water is embarking on an exciting journey of digital transformation, and we're looking for a visionary Solution Architect to play a key role in this evolution. In this pivotal position, you'll be responsible for designing and delivering robust, scalable, and secure technology solutions that align with our strategic objectives. From smart metering and ERP modernisation to cloud migrations, you'll lead solution design across enterprise systemsensuring architectural standards are met and driving innovation across the business.

What will you be doing?



Key Responsibilities



Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end solutions across business-critical systems including our ERP, CRM, Data and Cloud platforms. Translate business requirements into technical architectures that are secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise strategy. Work closely with other departments to understand their needs and ensure the architecture and data strategies support their objectives Define enterprise policies and standards for development and use of different technologies Collaborate with stakeholders across IT, operations, and commercial teams to ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements. Maintain architectural documentation and contribute to the enterprise architecture repository. Support procurement and vendor selection processes by evaluating technical fit and integration capabilities. Ensure compliance with data protection, cybersecurity, and regulatory standards. Provide technical leadership during project delivery, including oversight of development, testing, and deployment phases.
Mentor the wider technology team, helping to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.



What do you need?



Skills, Qualifications & Competencies



Proven experience in solution architecture within utilities or other regulated industries. Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, cloud platforms (e.g., Azure), and data architecture. Experience with ERP and CRM delivery projects Experience with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF Ability to lead technical discovery workshops and produce high-quality architectural artefacts. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field Certifications in architecture (e.g., TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect). Experience with agile delivery and DevOps practices
Experience using AI tools and their implementation into a business
