Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our IT team as a first line IT Technician on our Service Desk.

As an IT Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing generalist IT support to employees and Councillors while supporting the Service Desk and Infrastructure Manager with technical projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven IT Support Technician to join a dynamic team.

The IT department at Rother District Council plays a leading role in developing service delivery and assisting the Council's digital transformation to become fit for the future. This is a really great opportunity for candidates to learn, grow and development to springboard a career within IT.

Please note that occasional working out of normal office hours will be required for this post.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



Providing IT helpdesk support, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues on Windows, Office, and the 160 systems we run. Ensuring the smooth operation of key IT systems and equipment. Deploying IT equipment, ensuring proper setup and functionality. Collaborating with other IT team members to identify recurring issues and implement solutions to improve system performance and reliability Maintaining and updating IT equipment inventory, performing upkeep as needed.

Key Skills:



Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, Office 365, and common desktop applications Working under pressure and dealing with competing demands and deadlines Previous experience in a similar first line support role, preferably in a public sector or local government environment A proactive and customer-focused attitude, with a commitment to delivering high-quality support services Excellent Communication skills, written and verbal
