BATA was established as a farmers' cooperative in 1894 at Brandsby, North Yorkshire, 10 miles north of York. Today we are still an agricultural supply cooperative with 4,000 share members. We offer a wide range of products, including bulk and bagged animal feeds, pet foods, heating oil, LPG, timber, fencing, horse rugs, seeds or fertiliser, to name just a few.
Job Purpose
As an IT Support Technician, you will provide assistance and support to colleagues and maintain the businesses IT systems, hardware and software using your technical knowledge and providing excellent customer service.
Required and desirable qualifications and experience
Windows 11 (essential)
Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Word etc) / Active Directory
IBM AS400 (would be an advantage)
Microsoft Dynamics 365 (would be an advantage)
Remote control tools such as Dameware and RDP
Networking skills including TCP/IP and the ability to configure routers, VPNs, printers.
Awareness of Android, Apple mobile phone operating systems.
Understanding of VOIP
Security mindset, considering the ramifications and considerations of client security when implementing and supporting solutions
ECDL or computer related qualifications (Desirable)
Previous experience of working in an IT support role (Desirable)
Experience with the setup of Internet connectivity, routers and networks (Desirable)
Key Responsibilities
First line of contact to answer incoming IT support calls, fix via phone or remotely if possible.
Diagnose user and system reported issues to identify the cause.
Manage IT support tasks and escalate requests to the appropriate party, monitoring to ensure they are responded to in an appropriate time frame.
Visit sites to resolve issues, undertake new installations and routine heath checks.
Update the IT team so they are made aware of the current support issues / projects.
Setup desktop PCs, laptops, printers, chip & pin terminals, and other equipment as required.
Ability to terminate Cat 5 and undertake network cable installation as required.
Liaise with suppliers and contractors to obtain quotations for hardware and software.
Liaise with 3rd party companies within our supply chain providing assistance where necessary.
Maintain the IT Asset Management register ensuring that all assets are recorded and updated/removed.
Provide general administrative support to the IT team.
Maintain security, set up new user accounts for system logon and email.
Maintain IT systems data backup including daily tape changes.
Ensuring that data is protected in line with GDPR regulations.
Carrying out any other duties as assigned or required by management within your capabilities.
