IT Systems Administrator Linux

. This is a permanent, site-based role located in Greenock, reporting directly to the IT Manager.

Key Responsibilities



Administer, maintain, upgrade, and patch Linux, UNIX, Citrix, VMware, and backup environments Monitor system performance, capacity, and storage planning Plan and implement new technologies and system upgrades Diagnose and resolve technical issues, collaborating with stakeholders to minimise downtime Manage and maintain data backup and recovery processes Ensure compliance with software licensing requirements Contribute to the maintenance of business continuity and IT disaster recovery plans Support the upkeep of the physical and operational IT environment

About You (Essential Skills & Experience)



Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field Strong knowledge of Linux and UNIX systems administration(using Centos/RedHat currently) Solid understanding of infrastructure components (network, server, storage) Scripting, programming, and automation skills Experience with server virtualisation technologies (e.g. VMware) Knowledge of backup and recovery concepts Minimum 2 years experience as a Systems Administrator Excellent communication and teamworking skills

Desirable (But Not Essential):



Experience administering databases such as PostgreSQL
