IT Systems Manager

Location:



Predominantly Skelmersdale including some support of other satellite sites.

Salary:



45,000 - 55,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Overview:



We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT Systems Manager to join our automotive injection moulding company. This is a standalone role responsible for managing and maintaining the company's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, laptops, and a direct Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) connection critical to our supply chain operations. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth operation of all IT systems, providing reliable and secure technology support to enhance business efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:



Infrastructure Management:

Maintain and optimize the company's IT infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls), and cloud-based systems.

Laptop and Device Support:

Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot company laptops, desktops, and peripherals, ensuring all hardware and software are up-to-date and secure.

EDI System Maintenance:

Manage and support the direct EDI connection, ensuring seamless data exchange with suppliers and customers, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining compliance with automotive industry standards.

Network Administration:

Monitor and maintain network performance, including LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN systems, ensuring minimal downtime and robust security.

System Security:

Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and regular system updates, to protect sensitive company data.

Backup and Recovery:

Develop and execute backup strategies to ensure data integrity and quick recovery in case of system failures.

Software Management:

Oversee software licensing, updates, and compatibility for business-critical applications, including ERP systems and manufacturing software.

User Support:

Provide first-line technical support to employees, resolving IT-related issues promptly and training staff on new systems or software as needed.

Vendor Liaison:

Coordinate with external IT vendors and service providers for hardware/software procurement, maintenance contracts, and EDI partner integrations.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of IT systems, configurations, and processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Project Work:

Lead or contribute to IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, or the implementation of new technologies to support business growth.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:



Considerable experience of cybersecurity best practices and tools (e.g., firewalls, antivirus, endpoint protection). Proven experience (3+ years) in IT systems management, ideally in a manufacturing or automotive environment. Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). Experience with EDI systems, preferably in the automotive industry, and familiarity with standards like EDIFACT. Proficiency in managing laptops/desktops (Windows/macOS), including imaging, deployment, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills to interact with non-technical staff and external vendors. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similar) are desirable but not essential.

Desirable Skills:



Experience with manufacturing-specific software (e.g., ERP systems like SAP). Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure). Familiarity with automotive industry compliance requirements.

Working Conditions:



Primarily on-site at our manufacturing facility to support infrastructure and end-user devices. Occasional out-of-hours work may be required for system maintenance or emergency support.
