Role Brief:
The IT/OT Applications Specialist will have primary responsibility for the IT Support effort of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) - POMSnet & all auxiliary systems, while also providing support for key Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure.
You will play a key role in managing the site's overall IT and OT business objectives. The role will interface with all areas of the business and participate in all aspects of manufacturing through implementation and day-to-day support.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Monitor IT and OT processes to ensure compliance with corporate, divisional, and local policies and procedures.
  • Support IT & OT maintenance schedules, ensuring coordination with production operations.
  • Support the site's critical manufacturing systems: interface with the business, assist with change control documentation, and participate in testing schedules, delivery, and testing coordination.
  • Support system software upgrades-including planning, scheduling, and testing with operations-and assist in firmware and patch management for OT devices.
  • Ensure policies and standards adherence is consistent with Corporate/Division standards.
  • Support and enforce audit-compliant policies and standards.
  • Ensure Local IT/OT has business continuity/disaster recovery plans and participate in testing of plans as necessary; monitor results of business continuity testing.
  • Act as the primary liaison between IT/OT and business areas, supporting applications such as MES, Labelling, and general manufacturing control systems.
  • Assist with configuration and troubleshooting of OT network components (e.g., industrial switches, firewalls, VLANs) in coordination with IT network teams.
  • Provide low-level support for SCADA/HMI terminals, PLC interface connections, and machine-level sensor/actuator communications.
  • Support routine OT tasks such as backup/restoration of PLC/SCADA configurations and monitoring of industrial protocols (OPC, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
Skills Brief:
  • 6 or more months experience working with operating procedures, policies, and processes in a GMP environment - Pharma/Life Sciences or Medical Devices. Candidates without this experience cannot be considered.
  • Ability to investigate/troubleshoot MES and control systems to support optimization of system operations.
  • Ability to assist with new machine integrations, configurations & peripheral device setups.
  • Basic understanding of industrial control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and field device connectivity.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (OPC, Modbus, Ethernet/IP) and OT network segmentation concepts.
  • Exposure to supporting large-scale Oracle upgrade implementation, preferable.
  • Experience with ERP systems POMSnet & integrations with applications such as SAP, OSI-PI, Kepware is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience in Oracle Databases, SQL scripting, Label printers, Scanners configurations would be useful.
  • Experience with Software Lifecycle Validations in a regulated industry is desirable.
Person Brief:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computing or equivalent in Manufacturing or Engineering discipline.
  • 1 or more years' experience working in IT/MES environment preferably with direct manufacturing exposure. If 6 months of this is during a university placement or other internship type situation this can also be considered.
  • Experience or willingness to gain experience in OT system support within a regulated manufacturing setting.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, written & verbal communication skills are essential.
  • The role is based onsite in Oxfordshire and you must be living in the area or able to relocate in a short time frame and be able to be onsite daily.
  • The role would suit a recent graduate with some post graduation work experience or strong internship and/or university placement experience in industry. This role is not available on a contractor basis so it will not suit a candidate looking to operate as a limited company contractor.
