Overview


Seeking a skilled and proactive Opsview Support Engineer. This role focuses on supporting and optimizing ITRS Opsview environments for our customers. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in system administration and proven experience in scripting for plugin development (Bash, Perl, or Python).

Key Responsibilities



Provide day-to-day support and maintenance for ITRS Opsview monitoring solutions. Troubleshoot and resolve monitoring alerts, configuration issues, and performance problems. Develop and maintain custom monitoring plugins and scripts (Bash, Perl, Python). Work closely with customer teams to implement monitoring requirements and best practices. Manage and optimize Opsview configurations, templates, and service checks. Perform routine system administration tasks (patching, upgrades, access management). Document monitoring setups, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures.


Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience



Strong background in Linux/Unix system administration (Windows exposure advantageous). Scripting experience in Bash, Perl, or Python (plugin creation or automation). Practical understanding of Opsview or similar monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, ITRS Geneos). Familiarity with monitoring concepts: SNMP, NRPE, agents, thresholds, alerts, escalations. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Experience working in a Managed Services or IT support environment.

Desirable Skills



Exposure to Ansible for automation and configuration management. Knowledge of Git or other version control tools for managing scripts/plugins. Basic networking knowledge (routing, firewalls, ports, protocols). Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
