Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Transport Administration Assistant, to join our busy transport office based at Dunstable site for our prestigious customer JD Sports working for a leading logistics company.


As a Transport Administrator based in Dunstable, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating transport activities to ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods and providing exceptional customer service and support to colleagues and clients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.


You must demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering outstanding service to our clients.

Duties and

responsibilities:

General administration duties in-line with Transport legislation, company policy and procedures To work with, assist, and report to the Transport Management team Ensuring good standards of Health and Safety processes are followed by yourself and the team Assist with the management of vehicle defects through the VOR process Administration of the movement of vehicles and associated activities. Undertake all activities in line with KPI requirements and SLA's. Responsible for booking all drivers / vehicles into the depot. Tracks and supports the organisation of trailer servicing on time in accordance with procedures. Issues correct paperwork and books out drivers from the transport department Face to face interaction with drivers when conducting pre- and de-briefs. Continuously monitors the in-house and third-party management software systems, ensuring compliance with key system requirements. Ensure compliance with all Company, statutory and Health and Safety obligations. Works closely with key operational partners including other departments, depots and customer locations. Other site administration as and when required

Excellent administration and organisational skills An effective communicator, with excellent verbal and written skills Naturally curious, willing to learn and develop Intermediate level IT skills in Excel, Word and Outlook Outstanding attention to detail to ensure accurate records are maintained Ability to work to strict timescales Knowledge of appropriate driver legislation, Microlise, Tachomaster, and consignment management software is desirable but not essential Team player, self-motivated, flexible and confident General awareness of health and safety is essential

Team player An understanding of IT, Microsoft Office, in particular MS Excel & MS Outlook. Excellent communication skills written and verbally Flexible, adaptable, and able to think rationally under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail. Prioritise tasks effectively and manage time efficiently to meet productivity targets and service level agreements.

Desired:



Previous experience in the logistics sector is desirable, but not essential. Understanding of transport regulations and requirements An understanding of transport systems Flexipod/ WinSight, Vision, Telematics Proven experience of dealing with maintenance suppliers to ensure fast and effective service levels.
