About the role
We are looking for a passionate
Youth Learning Mentor
to join our team. In this role, you will:
Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where learners can thrive.
Support learners to achieve their qualifications and develop essential life skills.
Manage behaviour constructively and positively.
Provide tailored one-to-one and group mentoring to help learners reach their goals.
You may also be required to travel to different centres to support learners.
ACT is committed to promoting the Welsh language for both staff and learners. While not essential, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
What you'll be doing
Creating an inclusive learning environment that promotes safety, respect, and active participation.
Reporting safeguarding concerns in line with ACT policy and supporting learner wellbeing.
Managing behaviour positively and using effective strategies to de-escalate situations.
Supervising learners during activities, breaks, and lunch, supporting them to stay on track with their qualifications.
Mentoring learners, setting and reviewing targets, and celebrating progress.
Assisting JGW+ Tutors with curriculum delivery and developing engaging learning resources.
Maintaining accurate records of learner progress, attendance, and performance.
Carrying out administrative tasks to ensure smooth programme delivery.
Promoting equality, diversity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability in all aspects of your work.

Experience working with young people, particularly those who may face barriers to engagement.
Experience supporting learners with Additional Learning Needs and/or learning difficulties/disabilities.
Ability to manage disruptive behaviour using appropriate de-escalation strategies, including physical intervention where necessary.
Qualifications & Knowledge
Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above.
Skills & Attributes
Strong ability to motivate, mentor, and develop others.
A collaborative team player who can also work independently.
