The Role
Overall purpose
This is a business support role. You will be integral in supporting the business around commercial contracting, managing business risk and helping the business to deliver a first-class service to our clients.
The position would suit a junior lawyer with experience in commercial and contract law or an experienced paralegal or professional with a legal background who has experience of contract drafting and negotiation. However, this is a guideline only and we welcome all types of experience.
Key responsibilities include:
Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (including statements of work, master services agreements, confidentiality agreements and licence agreements)
Tender frameworks and tender responses for public and private sector clients
Data protection and GDPR compliance
Management of some company policies, refreshing and creating them.
Advising and supporting on wider commercial issues where the business requires it.
If legally qualified, you would also be involved in;
Identification and protection of new company intellectual property
Management and expansion of company Trademarks
Ensure that the company is up to date with changes in key regulatory legislation that affects the business, delivering training to the business as required.

Experience of drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
Excellent interpersonal skills, including clear oral and written communication
Self-motivated and able to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to think ahead and anticipate needs before they arise.
(for Junior Legal Counsel) Ability to provide sound practical commercial advice, underpinned by the law but avoiding complex legal jargon

This is a part time 40-50% role. Working hours are negotiable but ideally we would like a spread across the week. Pearn Kandola operates a hybrid working policy office and remotely. At least one day per week would be in the office plus an additional day per month for our all staff team meeting.
