We are expanding our workshop team and are looking for a skilled and motivated
Joiner / Assembler
to work on chair, sofa, and cabinet assembly, as well as assist in developing new furniture designs and production jigs. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking UK manufacturer offering a four-day working week and a supportive, hands-on environment.
The Role
You'll be responsible for the accurate assembly of wooden furniture frames, cabinet carcasses, and other components. Working from drawings, you'll produce frames, sub-assemblies, and prototypes to a high standard. You'll also collaborate with our in-house designer on new product development, helping to create jigs, templates, and efficient production methods.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble wooden chair and sofa frames using hand tools, jigs, and pneumatic equipment
Build cabinet carcasses and tables to precise specifications
Read and interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions
Work closely with the designer to develop and prototype new furniture designs
Assist in creating and maintaining jigs, templates, and fixtures for production
Carry out accurate measuring, cutting, drilling, gluing, and fixing of timber components
Maintain high levels of workmanship and attention to detail
Work collaboratively with upholsterers, finishers, and other workshop staff
Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with health & safety standards
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in furniture assembly, cabinet making, or joinery
Skilled in the use of woodworking hand tools, pneumatic tools, and machinery
Ability to read and follow technical and design drawings
Experience making or adapting jigs and templates beneficial
Creative, problem-solving approach to development work
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship
Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a small, skilled team
Knowledge of hardwoods, softwoods, and furniture construction techniques a must
What We Offer
Competitive hourly rate (12.00-15.00 per hour, dependent on experience)
39-hour working week (Monday-Thursday, 7:00am - 5:15pm)
