37 Hours Per Week - Flexible and agile working (by agreement) to cover the service 24 hours per day and 7 days a week

We are currently on the lookout for a number of Joiners to join our Property team within Nottingham City Council Housing Services.

We currently have a great opportunity for experienced joiners to join NCCHS\'s Property Team, where our tenants are at the heart of what we do, and no two days are the same. It\'s also an exciting time to join us as we continue to expand and grow our talented team.

We will rely on your technical expertise and give you the autonomy to diagnose and understand issues and put solutions in place, and where you think we can do things better, you will have the opportunity to bring about change.

The Role:

  • Carry out all aspects of joinery and carpentry work on Nottingham City Council\xe2\x80\x99s housing assets (and other sites determined by NCC) including installation, maintenance and repair of roof structures, staircases, walkways and balustrades, banisters, skirtings, architraves, handrails, flooring, kitchen units, worktops, aqua boarding, glazing, fencing and gates.
  • Undertake pro-active fault finding and appropriate remedial works and reporting, including identification and recording of reasons for deterioration of installations and the property in general (such as the movement of moisture in homes that can lead to the development of damp and mould).
  • Complete associated work e.g. small elements of painting, ironmongery or plaster patching to facilitate completion of repairs in one visit.
  • Use the necessary power tools and plant safely, as well as the ability to follow all safety procedures on and off-site and embracing H&S responsibilities.
  • Support the maintenance of assets to meet statutory minimum standards for housing, and installation, repair and maintenance obligations.
  • Contribute to the provision of good quality rented housing and the achievement of high levels of tenant satisfaction, improving the landlord and tenant relationships and protecting health and safety.
Minimum Requirements:
  • You will bring an organised but flexible approach and the ability to meet deadlines. Naturally, you will have experience in a repairs, new build, maintenance or contract environment, including assessing and inspecting jobs, updating records and great customer service skills.
  • You will be working with a wider range of customers and stakeholders and as such the ability to act professionally with excellent customer service skills is essential.
  • Joiners will be required to be qualified (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) but also have finishing skills in other trades.
  • Readiness to embrace technology \xe2\x80\x93 our teams use PDAs, online services and communications every day.
  • Able to work on ladders and in confined spaces.
  • Able to work flexibly (by agreement) to support our service coverage of 24 hours per day and 7 days a week.
  • Full and valid driving license.
