We have a unique opportunity for an individual with the required skill set to live and work in the idyllic location of Orkney Scotland. Kerr Carpentry Ltd carries out Joinery, New Builds, Extensions, and other property works.

We offer a four-day working week

(Tuesday-Friday)



Job Summary



We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled

Joiner/Carpenter

to join our team. The candidate must have good joinery skills and be able to work as part of a team or work independently. The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing, installing, and repairing wooden structures, fittings.This role requires excellent technical ability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities



Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join timber and timber-based materials. Install doors, windows, staircases, furniture, and other bespoke joinery items. Fit and repair wooden structures and fixtures on-site or in the workshop. Interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications. Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently. Ensure all work meets quality and safety standards. Liaise with site managers, clients, and other trades to complete projects on time. Maintain a clean and organised workspace. Carry out routine maintenance of tools and equipment. Be able to erect timber frame kit houses and roof structures

Skills and Qualifications



Essential:



Proven experience as a joiner or carpenter Fully qualified and minimum

5 years

of experience NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery (or equivalent qualification) Strong understanding of construction and woodworking techniques Ability to read and interpret technical drawings Good problem-solving and communication skills Excellent attention to detail and quality of workmanship Must have own hand tools Must have full clean driving license Professional and polite Good time keeping and able to meet deadlines Provide high quality workmanship

Desirable:



Experience with bespoke or heritage joinery CSCS card Knowledge of health an safety regulations in construction Have other relevant associated training and certificates

Working Conditions



Workshop and/ or on-site work depending on project needs Four day working week

(Tuesday-Friday)

Use of PPE and adherence to company safety procedures required at all times
